In 218 CE, at the age of 28, Hannibal, along with his soldiers and 37 African battle elephants, embarked on a remarkable journey from southern Spain to the plains of northern Italy. However, rather than opting for the conventional routes along the coastline or by sea, Hannibal chose a daring path through the Alps, catching the Roman Empire army completely off guard with his unexpected approach. Located in a valley in the Peloponnesus, Olympia has been inhabited since prehistoric times. By the 10th century B.C., it became a center for Zeus worship. The Altis, a sanctuary to the gods, holds numerous ancient Greek masterpieces. Besides temples, Olympia contains remnants of sports structures built for the Olympic Games, first held there in 776 B.C.

Parthenon , The Acropolis of Athens, known as the Sacred Rock, is Greece's most famous archaeological site and Europe's most significant ancient monument. It stands on Athens' highest point and features the Parthenon Temple, a masterpiece of Classical architecture. Dominating the modern city, the Acropolis reminds us of Athens' illustrious past. Although earlier temples existed, the current Acropolis was envisioned by Pericles in the 5th century BC, constructed from fine Pentelian marble at great expense. Its most renowned structures include the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Propylaea.
